What LGBTQI+ Stands For

Every letter in Lgbtqi+ represents a community of people in our society, for this, it is important to get a clear meaning of each letter. People may use the word without knowing the meaning and end up being misunderstood or not getting what is being said when listening to a person who uses the word. The Lgbtqi+ represents lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and the other letters represent transgender, queer or questioning, and Intersex. A Lesbian is a female having feelings and attraction to another woman, not any other gender. Gay, a man, attracted to other men, and not any other gender. A Bisexual, an individual attracted either physically or sexually to the same gender and other genders.

A Transgender is an individual who classifies as another gender rather than what is expected. This may be that they were recognized or decided that they belong to a certain gender at birth. Still, they see themselves as belonging to another sex. Queer, those who see themselves as not straight nor gay, sometimes queer is used to refer to the lgbtqi+ as a queer community rather than having to say all the meaning of the word. It can also represent Questioning, which shows that someone is questioning their gender or sexuality. Intersex refers to people born with sex type, either internal or external sex organs that are not considered either to represent the female or male sex.

It’s important that as years pass by, we understand every sexual identity, whether from different origins, places, or cultures. Sexual awareness to all these groups is of key importance; in having a clear detail on one’s sexuality, it is key to understand the sex to which a person is attracted. It may seem hard, but the word lgbtqi+ makes it simpler; it brings on sex understanding. By knowing what Lgbtqi+ means, you can understand their importance and how they organize themselves to support and promote their rights in different places. The term Lgbtqi+ brings unity among communities with different sexual realization. With the current generation, it’s acceptable to be proud of your sexuality without fear. Since countries have accepted Lgbtqi+, there should be no fear in accepting one’s sexuality.

People have their rights, and whether part of the lgbtqi+ community or not, since not everyone who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender identifies themselves as lgbtqi+ community, it’s good to accept everyone’s sexual orientation with pride. The lgbtqi+ word has brought understanding, acceptance without discrimination of human rights, where you should not face violence or be discriminated against because of their sexuality.
